Update on waste services on upcoming public holidays
14 April 2025
With the upcoming public holidays, residents need to be aware of the updates related to refuse collection and the City’s drop-off sites.
Refuse collection
Residents are reminded that refuse collection services are planned to continue as normal on Good Friday (18 April), Easter Monday (21 April), Freedom Day observed (28 April) and Workers’ Day (1 May).
Residents should however be aware of the possibility of collection delays, due to factors such as holiday traffic or unplanned absenteeism.
If delays do occur, residents should please take their bin out each day until it has been emptied, excluding Easter Sunday, 20 April. Any backlog that may develop should be cleared by the following week’s scheduled collection day at the latest.
If you are affected by refuse collection delays, recycling and composting can help save space in the bin.
Drop-off sites
All City drop-off sites will be closed on Good Friday, 18 April, and will operate according to public holiday hours over the Easter weekend, from 19 – 21 April, as well as 28 April and 1 May.
For a full list of drop-off facilities and operating times please see here.
